Many of the established MES systems were developed for large corporations with highly complex, multi-stage production structures. They offer an enormous range of features—of which medium-sized food companies typically need only a fraction.

Nothing works without a reliable connection

Even the best MES logic is useless if data doesn’t flow smoothly. Without seamless integration with ERP, machines, and peripheral devices, data silos, manual interventions, and inconsistent information will result. The MES is then limited to partial functions and cannot deliver true transparency or process optimization across the entire production process.
Existing machines, control systems, and in-house developments play a major role in determining the complexity of the MES architecture. Systems from different manufacturers, protocols, and interfaces must be integrated, and consistent data collection must be ensured. It is crucial that all systems provide the information relevant to the MES consistently and at the required quality level.
