On Thursday, the event started with the general meeting of the Trade Association of Dairy Farmers of Schleswig Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the 1st joint award ceremony.
On the subsequent Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania evening, numerous participants, including several who registered at short notice, posed a great challenge for the organisers. Nevertheless, Torsten Sach and his team did an excellent job.
On Friday, many guests took the opportunity to visit the Molfsee open-air museum, where the boilers of the steam-powered dairy were stoked up once again. This happens only eight times a year and the ZDM Association Day offered the special occasion. We, as well as several exhibitors, once again accompanied the DMA (German Dairy Farmers’ Association) symposium. This offered opportunity for interesting discussions between representatives of this sector and also among the exhibitors on all topics relating to the dairy industry.
The subsequent joint welcome evening was a festive occasion to celebrate the first Association Day. Supported by two DJs, the event continued until midnight and the good music mix ensured a crowded dance floor. The closing event on the roof terrace of the ATLANTIC hotel offered a splendid view of Kiel at night.
Saturday revolved all around the winners. In a festive setting, the best of 2018 in the dairy industry were honoured. We congratulate all apprentices, instructors, this year’s best master craftsmen and technicians, as well as Miriam Weiland with the best Bachelor thesis of the year and Julia Bauermeister for the year’s best Master thesis from Hochschule Hannover (Hanover University of Applied Sciences). In this context, the Zeven location of the DMK Group was awarded the “Ausbildungsbetrieb der deutschen Milchwirtschaft 2018” (Training Facility of the German Dairy Industry 2018). Congratulations.
Roland Riedl, Managing Director of planemos GmbH, draws an overall positive conclusion. “For us, the Association Day was once again a great event to talk to young and experienced dairy farmers from all areas of production and technology. This symposium sets itself apart by more than 320 registered participants, good contacts and exciting topics. An all-round successful event that promotes dialogue between dairy farming, the industry and service providers, addresses current problems, points out solutions and gets them off the ground. We are already looking forward to the next big ZDM-Association Day 2020 in Ravensburg and thank all organisers for the eventful days in Kiel.”
